Merseyside Civic Society Honours Two Heritage Projects with Awards

A message to members from Marilyn Collis, president of the Institute. Merseyside City Society honours Blue and Green Badged guides.

Dear Colleagues –

In these very difficult times in which we are all attempting to keep safe and sane, it is great to hear of a truly Good News story and especially when it relates to our profession.

In a virtual ceremony which took place yesterday, Merseyside City Society honoured Blue Badge Guides in Liverpool City Region and Green Badge Guides within the City of Liverpool for their professionalism in interpreting the City Region to hundreds of thousands of visitors over the years.  Peter Colyer, Chair of the Liverpool City Region Tourist Guide Association, accepted the award on behalf of its members which is very fitting as this year is the 40th anniversary of Blue Badge Guides in Liverpool.

Very well done to everyone!

Let’s hope that you will soon be able to get back to doing what you do best – promoting the guiding profession and qualified guides as the expert ambassadors of all the treasures of Britain!
