This event in 1520 was an extraordinary international gathering of Renaissance rulers unparalleled in its opulence, pageantry, controversy and mystery. Henry VIII and Francis 1 of France agreed to meet, surrounded by virtually their entire political nations. Professor Richardson is the author of The Field of Cloth of Gold (2013), a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and is an Honorary Fellow of the Historical Association.
