The Institute sets and assesses examinations for the Tourist Guide training courses it accredits.

Participants on Institute-accredited training courses must pass all elements of the Institute examinations at the relevant level before they receive their badges and certificates.

Candidates at Level 4 are entitled to three consecutive attempts (first and two re-sits) at their examinations to be completed within 36 months from the end of their training course.

Candidates at Level 3 and Level 2 are entitled to two consecutive attempts (first and one re-sit) at their examinations to be completed within 24 months from the end of their training course.
