The Institute of Tourist Guiding is responsible for administering schemes to attain a coveted Blue, Green or White Badge. We conduct examinations based on recognised standards and award badges to successful candidates.

Read MoreAs of 1 April 2018, the Institute ceased to accept anyone as an external candidate for its Blue Badge examinations. The Institute has instead introduced a new category of examination candidates for those Blue Badge Tourist Guides, who are members of the Institute, wishing to extend their current guiding qualification by qualifying in another region, but without participating in a full training programme: these are termed Blue Badge Tourist Guide Candidates (BBTG - Candidates). If you wish to be a BBTG Candidate on a course, please contact the training provider for the relevant region when a course is being run. You should do this at the recruitment stage.
