South West England Blue Badge (Level 4) course
The objective of this programme is to prepare students to enter the tourist industry as qualified guides for the South West region. Registered tourist guides are qualified by examinations set and administered by the Institute of Tourist Guiding. Students who are successful in these examinations will be awarded the Blue Badge for South West England, one of the largest national tourism regions, which covers the counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, and the City and County of Bristol.
The programme is structured around seven 'county' weekends. In addition, there will be a two-day Induction Weekend, a Communication Seminar weekend and two examination training weekends.
Please note: It is essential for students to have a personal email address, the use of a computer and a good printer. Handouts for lectures and all communications between the Programme Director or Administrator and the students are by email (in order to keep the fees as low as possible and the use of paper to a minimum).
Programme Duration: After an Induction Weekend in July 2017, the programme will run between the end of September 2017 and March 2018, with examinations taking place in April 2018.
The fee for this 2017-2018 Blue Badge Programme will be £3,250, which includes all lectures, coach tours and visits to sites.
