'Blue Badge Guides for 2012
Venues'
Institute Accredited Endorsement Course
12 - 19 March 2012
We aim to ensure that there are enough guides with a good
knowledge about the Olympics and Paralympics and the Olympic Park
area and other London venues to satisfy the demand from visitors
for tours of this type in a variety of languages.
The course will train guides who will be able to:
- Describe the background to the Modern and Ancient Games
- List the different sports and venues for the 2012 Games
- Give insights into funding of the venues and 2012 Games
- Guide visitors by coach and car around the London venues
- Guide visitors by public transport and on foot around the
London venues
- Explain the vision of the 2012 Games as presented by
stakeholder organisations.
This course leads to Blue Badge tourist guides gaining an
Institute of Tourist Guiding endorsement.
The first course took place in January 2007 and courses have been
run annually since then. There are currently over 350 guides who
hold this endorsement, who between them can offer 25
languages.
This course is not officially endorsed by, or in any way
associated with, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic
Games and Paralympic Games, the Olympic Development Authority or
the Olympic and/or Paralympic Movement more generally. The Blue
Badge endorsement you will receive on successfully completing the
course is not an accreditation that London 2012 or any other Games'
body have endorsed.
