Retired and Career Break
Membership Categories
At the 2011 AGM, the Institute announced the decision to change
the categories of Institute membership to better reflect the
working practices of guides.
We increasingly receive requests from guides who have retired
from guiding but wish to maintain contact with the profession, and
from those who have to take a temporary break from guiding -
because of illness or family responsibilities - but who do not want
their professional credentials to lapse as a result.
Therefore, the category of Registered Only for Members and
Associates will disappear from the year 2012-13 and two new
categories are being introduced: 'Retired' and 'Career Break'.
These categories are for guides not intending to work at all
during the membership year. A form must be signed annually stating
that you do not intend to work as a guide in the forthcoming
year.
For 2012-13 the subscription for these categories will be £25.00
and £35.00 respectively.
