The Institute of Tourist Guiding's structure allows for involvement of individual practitioners at all levels:

Membership is open to applicants holding an Institute accredited level four qualification exemplified by the Blue Badge.

Associateship is available on application by those holding an Institute accredited level three qualification exemplified by city badges.

Affiliateship is available on application by those holding an Institute accredited level two qualification exemplified by fixed route commentaries.

There is no group membership of the Institute. However there are a number of opportunities for sponsorship and group support.

Distinguished Members may be elected Fellows, and Companionship may be awarded to distinguished individuals outside the profession.

For all levels an annual subscription is payable and there is a Code of Professional Conduct and provision for Continuing Professional Development.
