Details: Consultative Council has successful meeting. The Institute of Tourist Guiding Consultative Council took place at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday 18 March 2008, hosted by Major General David Burden, the Receiver General. This annual Institute event is an opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from the Travel Trade as well as local and national government representatives. The meeting was chaired by the Institute President Alan Cross. A range of topics were discussed including VisitBritain's involvement with the Joint Working Group, threats to Tourist Guiding and regulation issues, Qualifications, European Standards and Funding. Several positive ideas emerged as a result of this meeting including contacts to be followed up about funding as well as support from DCMS and other government institutions.
